Sergio Martinez has defended his WBA Diamond Middleweight title in impressive style with an 11 round stoppage at 1:29 over Londoner and former European Middleweight champion, Darren Barker in New Jersey.
Barker was very determined to defeated P4P #3 and had a nice high and tight guard. It was a shaky start for the worlds best Middleweight with Barker landing some good punches and implementing his game plan well.
In the middle rounds, Martinez adjusted well to Barker’s game plan and broke him down in the latter rounds shaking Barker in the 10th before getting the KO in round 11.
Martinez improves to 48-2 while Barker suffers his first loss of his career but at 29 years of age still has at least another title shot in the horizon.
