Ward Landing his quick Left Hook on Froch

The Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey, played host to the final bout of Showtime’s Super Six Tournament where Andre Ward defeated Carl Froch in a convincing unanimous decision, in front of a crowd of about 5600 fans.

The fight brings an end to a two year tournament which main purpose was to bring the fans the best fights that can be made in the division, but also produce arguably the best Super Middleweight fighter in the world.

Ward used his superior defense and speed to outpoint Froch who looked two speeds too slow compared to the American. Although Froch appeared to be the bigger man inside the ring, it was Ward who was pushing him around and often trapped him in the corner where he would use his inside fighting to land short, crisp punches.

The fight looked to be one sided with Ward counter punching and picking his shots and Froch swinging wild and looking desperate. As the rounds progressed most ringside fans agreed that Froch would need a knockout to come out victorious. At the end, Judge John Keane had it scored 118-110 while judges Craig Metcalf and John Steward thought Froch had won 5 out of 12 rounds and had it 115-113 in favor of Ward. Most at ringside thought Froch won 2 rounds at best.
